Nattokinase Supplement: Benefits and Uses

August 29, 20235 min read

“Vasolabs enjoys clients with the best CV disease prevention programs. We'll bring the best ideas to you. ” - Joseph Ence, Owner Vasolabs.

This series is to let you know some therapies which aren't as accessible as other popular therapies. Our clients are looking for the best tools to engage patients to take charge of their health.

A client has forwarded me some information on Nattokinase which I think you'll find useful. Nattokinase by manufacturer, by price AND by potency. Getting the best supplements for your patients can be difficult, we'll make it easier on you.

Nattokinase, Clinical Thoughts

When it comes to cardiovascular prevention, our best medical providers go beyond the normal therapies. While it is important to thoroughly assess your own health and workup before considering any treatment, there is a therapy that has gained attention in recent years – Nattokinase.

Nattokinase is an enzyme that is derived from a traditional Japanese food called natto, which is made from fermented soybeans. This enzyme has been found to have potential benefits for cardiovascular health, particularly in relation to blood pressure, fibrin, and plaque.

One of the key factors in cardiovascular health is the Carotid Intima Media Thickness (CIMT), which is a measure of the thickness of the inner walls of the carotid arteries. Studies have shown that Nattokinase may help reduce CIMT (references below), thus promoting better cardiovascular function.

Purported Uses and Benefits

  • To prevent blood clots
Preliminary studies suggest that nattokinase may prevent deep vein thrombosis.

  • To reduce high blood pressure
Preliminary studies suggest nattokinase may lower blood pressure.

  • Alzheimer’s disease
Although animal models suggest nattokinase may degrade amyloid plaques, human studies have not been conducted.

  • Cancer treatment
Although nattokinase is promoted as an alternative cancer treatment, clinical data of its effectiveness are lacking.

Now, you might be wondering where to purchase Nattokinase. It is important to note that Nattokinase is available as a dietary supplement and can be found in health food stores or online retailers. However, it is crucial to choose a reputable source to ensure the quality and purity of the product.

When it comes to pricing, it is important to be cautious. Some distributors may offer Nattokinase at extremely low prices, but it is essential to consider the quality and effectiveness of the product. Remember, your health is priceless, and investing in a high-quality supplement is worth it in the long run.

1. How it works.

Nattokinase may help prevent clot formation and reduce blood pressure. It has not been tested as a cancer treatment in humans.

Nattokinase is an enzyme produced from nattō, a traditional Japanese food made from soybeans fermented with the bacterium, Bacillus subtilis. Lab studies suggest it can break down fibrin in the blood that forms clots or affect some factors that characterize Alzheimer’s disease. Human studies are limited, and suggest nattokinase may reduce high blood pressure. Although nattokinase has been promoted as an alternative anticancer treatment, clinical studies have not been conducted.

Nattokinase may increase the risk of bleeding in patients when used with blood-thinning drugs.

2. The story behind the data

Ellie Campbell at Campbell Integrative Family Medicine really is at the forefront of excellence. Last Friday I was able to go to her clinic. Scanned a few patients to show Dr. Campbell the newest in ultrasound technology. We talked in depth about therapies for her prevention program. Tools and imaging she uses (she has a thermal camera for breast cancer). Dr. Campbell really does deserve her own interview. I was very impressed at how well-read she is, she attends many many conferences to stay on top of the medical information.

She shared with me a sheet. It has Nattkonase by manufacturer, by price AND by potency.

Peace of Mind is Priceless

Looking back, it's chilling to realize how close I came to the edge. I opted for a test at Vasolabs on a whim, without any particular symptoms. Boy, am I glad I did! Turns out, my arteries were nearly clogged up - something regular doctors wouldn't have caught unless there were signs of a problem. By the time I got a couple of second opinions and returned to my regular doctor, my arteries were 95% blocked. If I hadn't taken the test when I did, I could have had a stroke. Trust me when I say this, going to Vasolabs was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

- George B

I was really worried about getting a heart attack because its already happened in our family. So taking this test gave me the peace of mind I was looking for. And it was so cool to see the age of my artery was younger than I was!!

- Barbara L.

I went to Vasolabs for their C-IMT testing, thinking it'd be a complicated deal, but nope! It was as easy as getting a photo taken. And guess what? They found an issue that could've been a silent threat. Thanks to them catching it early, my doctor and I are on top of it now. Honestly, I feel like I dodged a bullet. Big thumbs up for Vasolabs!

- Walter S.

I saw an ad on Facebook and I got the C-IMT Test for myself and my husband, it was such an easy process. And a great gift idea for family. It was really fun to look at the results and good to know I need to work on my health.

Frequently Asked Question

What is a C-IMT scan?

A C-IMT Scan is a non-invasive procedure that uses ultrasound technology to measure the thickness of your carotid arteries' walls. These arteries, located on each side of your neck, supply blood to your brain. Over time, plaque can build up in these arteries, causing them to thicken. This is often an early sign of atherosclerosis, a disease that can lead to serious conditions such as heart attacks and strokes.

Where do I go to get this scan?

For your quick, 15-minute appointment, simply head over to our facility located at 1414 South 600 West, Bountiful, UT 84010.

Who takes my test?

Dean Ence, an expert sonographer, will be handling your fast, no-pain test to figure out the 'age' of your arteries. This test checks how thick your artery walls are - thicker walls can mean inflammation. It's all simplified for you to understand easily. We also spot and show plaque, whether soft or hard, in your arteries. You get detailed pictures from the ultrasound for your records. Taking care of your health is our main goal!

How long does the C-IMT Scan and Report take?

The duration of the C-IMT scan can vary depending on various factors, like the complexity of the patient's condition. Typically, a Vasometric scan takes around 15 minutes to complete. The report is done and delivered within 24 hours to you.

Will my insurance cover this C-IMT Scan?

Most insurance providers don't cover the cost of this scan. However, most hospitals are around $800 a scan, but we are only charging $199!

Hospitals often inflate prices due to the complex nature of their billing systems and agreements with insurance companies.
